don't take our word for it
I first worked with Blaine in the early stages of my career and found that his knowledge and coaching skills were impeccable, and that he was exceptional at helping young players realise their potential. I think that Blaine would be excellent no matter what organisation he worked for and would massively improve those within the organisation, helping them to achieve their objectives.
I worked together with Blaine in Beijing. Blaine’s professionalism and eagerness to learn stood out immediately. He did a good job during his coaching sessions. Alongside this he got great feedback on his lifestyle book and coach education sessions. It was a pleasure to work with him.
Blaine had a positive impact on his players and colleagues during his time in Kuwait. He is always looking for ways to improve his coaching to ensure he constantly gives his best. It was a pleasure to have Blaine with us as part of our coaching team and we wish him every success in the future.
It’s been a pleasure working with Blaine over the last couple of months. He has a positive personality and a big passion for football making him easy to talk to. I knew little about sport psychology, but in a short space of time we achieved the goals we set and improved my performance massively.
Blaine has been an invaluable asset to Ubon Umt United Football Club. Working under constraints such as funding limitations as well adjusting himself to the unique Thai culture, Blaine has achieved exceptional goals and has been key in the creation of our philosophy. His ability to fuse various disciplines to identify essential aspects of youth development that other Thai football clubs overlook has given us a unique selling point and a solid foundation to develop future Thai players. I look forward to working with him for the foreseeable future.
Blaine McKenna operated as coach development manager for Dunedin Technical AFC throughout mid-2017. He has worked with our team, the Lions, in an advisory role and has enhanced the way we deliver sessions, gave feedback to players, challenged our playing model, enhanced learning outcomes and has been a great sounding board for many of the ideas we are trying to implement.
As I have been working in elite sport across multiple fields for nearly 15 years now, I can tell when someone can add real value to an organization. Blaine is someone who can instantly help a sports organization go to the next level. He has a varied, up to date knowledge base across multiple areas and can see where fields are heading. He has varied experience which will help him bridge the gap in many organizations between the different silos of knowledge that exist. Not only that, but he is innovative in his thinking and has ideas at the bleeding edge of sports performance while still being simple and usable in a day to day manner, and down to earth so that athletes can understand it.
I would highly recommend looking at Blaine for any position he applies for.

Blaine has a genuine passion for helping people, in his coaching and mental skills work. His support is tailored to the needs of the client, and his services are always innovative and effective. I would highly recommend working with Blaine if you are interested in improving your performance or knowledge of sport psychology
Blaine was a pleasure to work with during our time together in China. His passion for learning and improving was evident and he was able to bring new ideas to the table, particularly in the field of sports psychology in which Blaine has a strong background both academically and pedagogically.
Blaine demonstrated his coach education abilities with a number of local PE teachers and was able to impart his knowledge to them and help them to improve their understanding of how to deliver appropriate football practices.
I would recommend Blaine for any role involving coaching, coach education and/or sports psychology.
Blaine spent a number of weeks with us at Chigoli Academy. In this time, he delivered meaningful and valuable coach education sessions to our family of Chigoli coaches. The impact of this will spread over the Central Region of Malawi positively impacting hundreds of young Malawian players’ development. He also led a number of coaching sessions at our academy imparting knowledge and understanding to our players.
Blaine’s passion and dedication to the game, his own personal development and thirst for knowledge is exceptional and inspiring. I have no doubt he has a big and influential future in the game redefining, over time the implementation of sport psychology into football coaching for players, particularly at youth academy level.
Blaine spent over a year with Carrick Rangers Ladies as head coach, working with girls aged 14-30yrs old, ranging in ability. It was a new role and different experience for Blaine with no prior experience within the female football sector however Blaine settled in with ease and had a huge impact on our club in such a short space of time. Blaine was not only a great coach for the girls, but also a role model, friend, teacher, education to everyone; players, coaches and others working within the Northern Ireland Women’s Football Association.
Blaine demonstrated on a daily basis his experience as a coach, with every session being well organised, planned in advance – always linking up with previous weeks and working towards development and understanding of mistakes and how to improve these. New ideas were implemented due to Blaine’s passion towards psychological factors within sports as we looked at mental toughness, match preparations which has been continued to be used within our coaching programme. Blaine used match analysis with the girls – again a new experience for both parties and proved to be a success.
Blaine moving on to bigger and better things was a massive loss to our club, he is a credit to himself with constant hard work, passion and will to continuously improve and the want to learn new things. Blaine will be a great addition to any club, organization, academy or wherever he may choose to further his career. I learnt so much from him in the short space of time working alongside him, and would have him back at our club within a heartbeat!
Over the years I have found Blaine to be extremely hard working, organized and conscientious. He has a very positive manner which backed up with his knowledge and delivery style ensures that he engages well with his participants. I believe that Blaine would be a strong asset to any organization.
Blaine coached my 9 year old son at Club Football in Beijing China in 2016 for about a year. During that time, he taught the children not only the skills of football but also the skills to manage the given situation by controlling their emotions. Once the team had to play against the team which plays very rough and the children were very upset and lost their control. After the game, he shared how the children can over come and take advantage of such a situation by controlling themselves. I was very impressed by the way Blaine took this opportunity to provide very important lesson to the children. It was exactly what I want my children to learn through sport activities, however, not many coaches are keen or capable to provide this kind of lesson. My son was lucky to have Blaine as a coach so that he could learn the high level skill of football and the thinking skills which can use to improve his everyday life.
